Mt. Kenya National Park

Mount Kenya National Park is centered on Africa's second highest mountain whose  landscapes is described as one of the most impressive in Eastern Africa with its rugged glacier-clad summits, afro-alpine moorlands and diverse forests that illustrate outstanding ecological processes. UNESCO inscribed Mount Kenya as a World Heritage Site.
Mt Kenya consists mainly of the two main peaks, Batian at 5199m and Nelion at 5188m being the only places on the equator to boast permanent snow. The two peaks are joined by a ridge called the Gate of Mists. This gives it a different landscape than the other national parks.
The park is ideal for hiking and mountain climbing and is home to a variety of species of animals including lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, colobus monkeys, giant forest hogs and civet cats.
Mt. Kenya National Park is located about 210 Km north east of Nairobi and covers an area of about 2800 sq Km with its Northern part across the Equator.
